When Evacuation Becomes Necessary

The boreal region of Lesser Slave River is certainly beautiful. However, the proximity of many communities to forested areas can pose a threat to lives, homes and livelihoods when certain conditions conspire. Here are a few steps to follow when evacuation due to an emergency situation becomes necessary.

Know the location of the evacuation center closest to your community. There are several throughout the community, and they are listed in the Emergency section of mdlsr.ca.
Create your own 72-hour emergency kit to ensure you have certain necessities at a moment’s notice. A checklist can be found in the Emergency section of mdlsr.ca.
