Snowplow Flags

Pay the MD to plow your property.

Each winter, the MD's Transportation department provides residents an opt-in snowplow flag service that allows their driveways to be cleared following a snowfall.
SNOWPLOW FLAGS CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE SLAVE LAKE OR FLATBUSH MUNICIPAL OFFICES, OR AT PUMPS ON MAIN IN SMITH.

To participate in this program, simply download and complete the waiver of liability below, then submit it to the MD Administration building along with payment via cheque, Interac or cash for every snowplow flag you wish to purchase. Each snowplow flag costs $42.50 plus GST each (or half price for seniors), and is good for one instance of snow clearance.

When you require your property to be cleared of snow, just place a purchased flag at the end of your driveway to indicate that the service is requested. Under normal conditions, this service is fulfilled 3-4 days following a snowfall.

Your land. Your snow.

The boreal region of Lesser Slave River is certainly beautiful. However, the proximity of many communities to forested areas can pose a threat to lives, homes and livelihoods when certain conditions conspire. Here are a few steps to follow when evacuation due to an emergency situation becomes necessary.

As a resident of the MD, any snow that falls onto your property is your responsibility. Do not push your snow onto the roads, ditches or right-of-ways. Keeping your snow on your land helps prevent dangerous drifting, ice roads and flooding. Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
